What does traditional Hong Kong Kung Fu have to do with football?

What does traditional Hong Kong Fu have to do with Football?

Perhaps more than one might expect.

Recently, during Manchester City’s visit to Hong Kong, Sifu Nima King, founder of Mindful Wing Chun, had the pleasure of sharing a Wing Chun experience with Manchester City players Matheus Nunes and Marcus Bettinelli, alongside former China Women’s National Team goalkeeper Zhao Lina.
It was great to see world-class athletes experiencing some of the ideas that make our approach to Wing Chun so unique: relaxation, structure, balance, body awareness and generating power with less muscular tension.
Different sport, different environment, but many of the principles behind efficient human movement are universal.

As Sifu Nima King reflects:

“Through nearly three decades of practising and teaching martial arts, and more than 20 years living and teaching here in Hong Kong, I’ve been very fortunate to meet people from all walks of life and from all over the world.

One of the things I’m most grateful for is having the opportunity to share Wing Chun with people visiting Hong Kong, and to introduce them to a small part of the Chinese culture and heritage that has given so much to me.

Very grateful for the opportunity to share a little piece of Hong Kong’s Kung Fu culture with them.”

Experiences like this are always interesting because they open a bigger question:
where else might these principles be useful?
